How is Beach Art Glass made?: All our beads and jewellery are made by hand, in the UK. The beads are made by a process known as lampwork. Glass rods are melted in a flame and molten glass is wrapped around a metal mandrel. The bead is shaped with tools and gravity, and decorated with fine silver and handmade details. Then the bead is slowly cooled overnight in a kiln to remove any stress from the glass and ensure the bead is sound and durable. All the silver head pins, bails and ear wires are beautifully handmade especially for us by our highly skilled British silversmith. Take a look at our video to see the whole process.

Beach Art Glass and the environment: As a small business we strive to work in a considerate manner, we work on a small scale with hand tools and no big industrial processes. Our silversmith uses eco friendly recycled silver and “Argentium” for our findings. The main component of glass is sand, an abundant material, and we aim to produce virtually no waste from our bead making or jewellery production, all our scrap silver is recycled.   Beach Art Glass jewellery isn’t influenced by the latest fashion trends and is intended to last a lifetime – we like to call it “heirloom quality”.

How do I care for my jewellery?: One of the lovely things about glass is that the colours don’t fade over time, but silver can be affected by the atmosphere and eventually tarnish if not worn or wrapped up. The best way to care for silver is to keep it in an airtight packet when it’s not being worn. If it does tarnish it can be cleaned with a silver polishing cloth.

Delivery times: As we make all the jewellery ourselves, and most items are made to order, we aim to post within 2 days of receiving payment. Second class post (UK) or standard airmail (rest of world) is free. If you’re in a rush UK orders can be upgraded to first class for a small charge, and all orders can be upgraded to special delivery/tracked and signed airmail service as appropriate.

Packaging: We are very mindful of the environment and have banished all single-use plastic (bubble wrap!) from our parcels. Boxed jewellery will be sent to you carefully wrapped with shredded tissue and branded tissue paper, and we always pop a little leaflet in there to explain how our products are made – this is particularly helpful if the item you ordered is to be a gift. Smaller items such as light pulls and charms will be wrapped in a cotton pouch and padded envelope. Every effort is taken to ensure your order arrives safe and sound, but if you experience any problem or delay, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Gifts: We are happy to send your purchase direct to the recipient and we know they will be delighted with the packaging. We will never include an invoice so they won’t see what you paid for it, and you can even add a handwritten Beach Art Glass greeting card, for a small charge.

Returns or Refunds: We will always do our very best to make sure you are happy with your Beach Art Glass purchase. You have 14 days from receipt to let us know if you’d like to return an item that was bought directly from us, and another 14 days to get it back to us. Returns will only be accepted in their original, unworn state, with all packaging intact. Return postage cost and liability is your responsibility so we recommend you send by registered post. In the unlikely event that your jewellery arrives damaged please let us know as soon as possible so that we can arrange a replacement or a refund. Custom orders cannot be returned, unless faulty. If the item you wish to return was bought from a stockist, you need to contact them to enquire about their returns policy.
