Glass Bead Making Classes

Looking for somewhere to learn how to make your very own lampwork glass beads? We have workshops available to help you to discover your new hobby! From learning the basics to mastering your jewellery making skills, our expert lampworker, Julie, is here to help.

Our workshops are held in Malvern, Worcestershire, UK, WR14 2RG.

Julie Fountain started making glass beads using lampwork in 2007, and this hobby became a full-time job in 2010. She has since gone on to excel in her skills and showcase her outstanding talents at the UK Flame Off, becoming a representative of Trollbeads as their accredited Lampworker, and making her own bespoke glass bead jewellery for Beach Art Glass.

“Helping people make their first glass beads is magical – I love to see their excitement as they realise they can do it too.  We all know beads don’t actually grow on trees but seriously, who knew you could make them yourself?!” - Julie Fountain

"Not just for girls!"

Frequently Asked Questions

How long are these workshops and when do they take place?

Both workshops are 3 hours long.  My diary is flexible, it helps if you can suggest 2 or 3 dates and we can work it out together.

Where is the studio?

In Malvern, Worcestershire, UK. The postcode is WR14 2RG.

Do I keep the beads I make?

Of course! You get all the beads you make, plus my demo beads.  They have to be cooled slowly (annealed for strength) in my kiln so you don't actually get to take them home on the day of the workshop.  You can either pop back the next day and pick them up or I will post them out to you ASAP.

Do I need to bring anything?

All health and safety equipment will be provided, along with all the materials you need to craft your beads. You will need a steady hand and an adventurous spirit!

What age do you teach?

Workshops are for people aged 16 and over.  16 and 17 year olds must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Is there parking available?

Yes.
